The 1595 Club was founded in Brighton, East Sussex, in 2002 by Chris Chatfield & Alister Oloughlin.

Mr Chatfield comes from a background of sports fencing, classical fencing & boxing. He began his study of Saviolo in 1999 & in 2002 founded The 1595 Club with the aim of forming a group concentrating upon Saviolo’s system of fence. Since that time he has been invited to teach, demonstrate and fence throughout the U.K. & Europe.
